Visualize and simulate the future performance

Managers already know that building and conserving resources is vital, whether these be intangible items such as staff, cash, customers or intangibles such as reputation and investor support. They also understand that resources are interdependent; a firm's winning product range is of little value if poor delivery damages its reputation.

Are your resources complementary?

The only criterion for strategic resources that really matters from the list of classical attributes of resources - durable, mobile, tradeable etc. - is: Are your resources "complementary"? In other words, do they work well together?

Strategy Dynamics® is a dynamic methodology to understand and solve the question of how to design a robust strategy to radically improve company performance into the future. Strategy Dynamics® allows to visualize and even simulate the time path of resources according to their complementarity.

Visualize strategic resources with stocks and flows

Word -and-Arrow diagrams that are used in Strategy Dynamics® to represent resources and the flows of their interdenpence have a specific meaning. The curved arrows indicate that one item can be immediately calculated or estimated from another, as with a formula in a spreadsheet.

To manage performance through time, the only way of exerting control is by managing the flows of resources into and out of our system or company. This is were sticking to the numbers and getting quantitative is so helpful. If you want to explain the resource "customers" number you must know the numbers of customers.

Additionally, the Strategy Dynamics® simulation software® "mystrategy" allows to simulate the strategic architecture® of the firm and the interaction of the resources.
